 *1. Make, Model of Computer  i.e. Compaq Presario 4540, HP Pavilion 513n, Desktop or Laptop
*2. Operating System, Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP or Other
*3. BIOS make/brand and version  BIOS Beep Codes/Error Codes - POST (Power On Self Test)

*4. Since the last time of a successful boot/session have you made any changes to your system  i.e. added / removed software / hardware, changed any system configuration settings, etc.*  We need to know events leading up to your specific problem i.e. if the system one moment is running fine and the next moment locks up, if your monitor was flickering indicating something wrong with the monitor or connection or video/graphic card, your system received a electrical spike, surge or blackout, case opened without grounding static electricity zaps motherboard, component, etc....we may not have a definitive answer to your problems.


5. If the problem involves a peripheral i.e. modem, hard drive, printer, monitor, etc....please provide make, model and serial number.

6. Error Messages - Write down word for word before closing message window or screen capture & attach.


7. System Information, Start>Run> type in MSINFO32, File Save, attach & send this file.  Suggestion: save file by naming your last name with date i.e. smith_13Oct03.nfo System Information collects and displays system configuration information which includes information about hardware configurations, computer components, and software, including signed drivers and unsigned drivers. When support technicians troubleshoot your system configuration, they require specific information about your computer. Attach and Send

I appreciate your reading and providing me with the above information asked........this helps to better troubleshoot your problem, save time from back and forth e-mails asking additional information/questions, which can be avoided by reading the above questions/information.  Not all questions are pertinent to the problem I know, but the more I know the better I can assist/answer.
